The Massamousso Lorgnette

BonLook was built on a foundation of social responsibility and quality affordable fashion. Therefore, we are proud to introduce a lorgnette, also known as “opera glasses”, called the Massamousso which means “queen” in Dioula, a language spoken in West African countries.

We chose this name in efforts to honor African women and because all proceeds from the sale of these specs will be donated to the Desert Flower Foundation in Africa. The Desert Flower Foundation is an organization striving to end female genital mutilation (FGM) which affects over 150 million women and girls around the world, primarily in Africa. The Foundation is determined to end this cruel practice by raising public awareness, creating help networks, and organizing events and educational programs.

The Desert Flower Foundation was established by supermodel Waris Dirie, who became a victim of FGM at age five while living in her native Africa. In 1996, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, appointed Dirie a UN Special Ambassador for the elimination of FGM. To learn more or donate, visit:
