This news comes courtesy of a newly launched financial assistance initiative (exclusively in Quebec) called the See Better to Succeed program. If you or your child meets specific criteria (outlined below) you’ll receive a reimbursement of $250 as compensation for the purchase of new glasses. Just a note: this is a fixed total so no matter if you purchase one pair of glasses or multiple boxes of contact lenses, you’ll get the same amount back.
The Quebec government launched this program as a way to help lessen the financial burden on parents. It’s also a means to boost academic performance, as clear vision has a direct impact on a student’s academic performance.
Here’s what the See Better to Succeed program entails: every two years, children under the age of 18 who need glasses or contact lenses to see and have gotten a prescription from a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist will be eligible for $250 reimbursement.
A few things you should know before applying for reimbursement.
- First, as specified above, this financial assistance only applies to people under the age of 18.
- Purchases must be made in-store (transactions made via bonlook.com won't be accepted).
- You’ll only be eligible for reimbursement if the merchant that sold your glasses or contact lenses is based in the province of Quebec.
- In order to be eligible, all you have to do is fill out an online form. We’ve included the link below.
Not sure if you or your kid needs glasses? No worries. Schedule an eye exam at an optometrist near you. It’s also covered by health insurance (RAMQ).
